What is Travel Soccer?

  • Travel soccer year has 2 seasons – Fall and Spring. The player commits to both seasons.

  • A regular season consists of 10 games.  Sometimes friendly scrimmage games are also played to get in more games.  Half of the 10 games are played at home, the other half usually involves travel time of no more than an hour and half away.  Most games are played on the weekend, but you may have the occasional weekday game.

  • The intent of travel is to develop players to a higher skill level. In order to make it competitive and fun, there are different levels of travel leagues. It is also the intent to make travel soccer competitive whereby each team has a chance to play teams with similar talent. There is usually a greater emphasis on winning in travel soccer than in recreational soccer.

  • Most travel teams practice 2 nights a week before and during the season. This is up to the discretion of each team and coach.

Who can Try-Out?

  • Travel players must have turned 9 years old by July 31st to be able to be placed on a team. This is a state rule and there are no exceptions.

What is the Cost?

  • One tournament will be included in the travel fee. It will be up to the individual teams to decide if more are to be done.
  • The registration fee to play travel soccer is higher than Recreational Soccer.
  • In addition, players buy their own uniforms (mandatory). There are also accessory items available that are not mandatory. Uniform includes jersey with embroidered logo and number, shorts, 1 pair of socks, and an alternate white shirt with silkscreen logo and number.
  • If there is a family with financial difficulties and the costs will prevent a player from playing soccer, there is money available from the Indiana Youth Soccer Association to help pay for the registration costs. This process is kept highly confidential to protect the individuals involved.

When will I know if I made a travel team?

  • Notification by mail will be done within a couple weeks after try-outs.

  • A reply of acceptance or denial will be expected ASAP so the Club can send in the application for a new team.
