NP United Soccer
Board Meeting
October 29, 2002, 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called
to order by President, Phil Melangton. Present were: Jerry McClatchey,
Karla Kindrick, Jim Peters, Janice Kovach, Doug Harvey, Ali Basaran,
Maria Harrison, Chris Harrington and Jean Aikman.
President: Phil. The laptop has been purchased but not set up for use.
Write a letter to Bob Yoder to check on possibility of a port-o-let on
premises or the opening of the football concession bathrooms for
some/all soccer days.
Vice President: Maria. The U14 team won the Fishers tournament this
past weekend. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Indoor sessions are beginning. Adidas
socks are still on backorder. Some of the socks are not wearing well.
Avon will replace those.
Treasurer: Balance is $10,900. Need a copy of the by-laws to get the
Tax ID number. Jerry and/or Maria will get to Joe.
Secretary: Jean. Minutes will be posted on web.
Team Rep. Coordinator: Janice. Season ended well.
Coaching Director: Jerry.
Summer Camp - MLS are increasing their cost from $98.00 to $99.00 per
child. We will be checking out other possibilities. ProExcel is one
possibility - they offer camp for approximately $65-$68 per child with
a 15:1 ratio of child to coach. Not sure if they offer ball and/or
t-shirts. We can arrange something with Avon Sports for ball and
t-shirt, if needed. Derek Brown is another possibility. Would like to
ensure that the camp does not coincide with New Palestine's soccer
camp. Keep the camp in mid-July. No decision was made at this time.

Referee Assignor: Dana still needs paid for assigning referees. He
needs to get with Joe on the amount.
Referee Clinic
Offered in Greenfield in January. Must be 12 years old or older to
attend. Call B. Howard Green at 861-8438 for more information.
Uniform Committee Chairman: Rec. Jim. - U6 assistant coaches need
colored uniform shirts to help the children identify their coach on
the field. Other assistant coaches can have a white t-shirt with the
NP United logo on it. Buy in bulk and sell the remainder at the
concession trailer.
Field Maintenance: Chris. Chris was complimented on the awesome job he
did this Fall. Thank you for your extra time and effort. We will need
new nets and paint at the very least to get going in the Spring. Chris
and Jerry will inventory and order what is needed in January which may
include a new paint machine. Overall, the grounds were cleaner this
season and parking was better. Before the Spring season begins, we
need to explain to parents the procedure of their turn in painting the
fields. The field configuration may need to change next year due to
changes in the CIYSL regarding the size of the travel U12 field. That
will be looked into when the changes are published. U6 fields will
need to move a bit next season due to the construction on the site.
Rec. League Coordinator: Ali. 80% of player evaluations were turned
in!!! A few teams were reportedly unbalanced in talent. Hopefully this
won't happen in the Spring. We will keep an eye out for this in the
future.
Travel League Coordinator: Maria for Amy. Amy is busy getting things
organized for Spring. Photographer did OK but some children were not
photographed in all age groups. Some of the action shots were awesome.
Team photos were made available. Training for Spring with Derek or
another trainer has not been decided.
Concession Chairman: Karla's Cafe. The concession profited
approximately $1,200 this season! Only two shifts were not covered by
teams this season. Great support.
Publicity Chairman: John needs to follow-up on voice mail only pricing
and new housing developers from August meeting. Need to advertise the
Spring dates and the referee clinic on site.
Registration Chairman: Position still open.
Awards/Pictures Chairman: Doug. Pictures were distributed but with
some errors which are being taken care of. A big thank you to Doug and
his family for spending hours sorting the pictures out. Specify on
bids for Spring that the pictures will come sorted by team as well as
all other specifications talked about in the previous Board Meeting.
Compliments came regarding the Coaches plaques. Check out Yeager and
others for Spring pictures. Awards - many compliments on the trophy.
All teams have them. Only about nine are left over. We can take them
back to B & R for credit.
Meeting adjourned by President Phil Melangton.
Next meeting will be in January, 2003 with exact date and time to be
announced.
