Board Meeting
June 17, 2003, 6:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by President, Phil Melangton,
Present were: Maria Harrison, Karla Kindrick, Ali Basaran, , Amy Fistrovich, Karen Teach, Jean Aikman, and new members: Joe Baker and Brian Kramer.
President: Introductions were made to Joe Baker and Brian Kramer as Co-Field Maintenance Chairpersons. Thanks guys! Phil purchased a printer for NPUnited.
Vice President: Maria – No report.
Treasurer: No report at this time.
Secretary: Jean. No report.
Team Rep. Coordinator: Janice would like to retire from board. We will try to advertise her position during registration. Thanks for a job well done!
Coaching Director: Phil and Ali for Jerry.
Summer Camp – Only have 10 rec registrations. When Ali spoke to ProExcel, they suggested we have possibly 3 travel teams in the morning and one in the evening to spread out the numbers. We are committed to three coaches and are able to add another if our numbers warrant it. Color brochure was mailed to all league participants. We will try to get participation via registration on June 28, 2003. Deadline for registration is in July – approximately one week before the July 14-18 camp. The cost is: $74 per player with a $5.00 discount for additional children in a family ($69). Times: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for Team and 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for Individuals. Still need Host families for the trainers.
Registrar: Karen. Will get travel and rec leagues registered with CIYSL on time.
Referee Assignor: No report. Did not continue the discussion about possibly having one referee come to the field unassigned for the day of games. That person would get paid for showing up whether or not they actually refereed. This will hopefully alleviate late starts and occasional no-shows. Need to vote on for next year.
Uniform Committee Chairman: Rec. - T-shirts will be offered for sale at registrations. MLS uniforms will be ordered when registration is complete.
Field Maintenance: Welcome to new Board Members Joe and Brian. The fields will all need to be redesigned for Fall after we determine how many of each field size is needed per our registration. We are losing Field 4 to JV field.
Field Day – August 9, 2003 is Field Maintenance Day. We will advertise this via Web site, and e-mail to coaches.
The league is taking bids for field cutting. We will discuss this at the next meeting to see if financially feasible.
Rec. League Coordinator: Ali. Discussion ensued regarding the dates of the Fall Recreation Season. We are trying to fit 8 games in between the Saturday after Labor Day and October 11. Not sure of parental approval if we have two- week night games instead of one. Vote will take place among Board members via e-mail after further review of dates available, referees available, etc.
Travel League Coordinator: Amy. Travel tryouts went well. The teams fielded are as follows:
U10 Girls – Coach Manny Hanniman, Asst. Lori Verkamp and Team Mgr. Linda Joray
U10 Boys – Coach Mark Cox, Asst Coaches Jim Peters and Bill Spalding and Team Mgr. Bonnie Cox
U12 Boys – Coach Steve Selke, Asst Coaches Matt Murrell and Phil Melangton – Team Mgr not yet assigned.
U14 Boys – Coach Andy Harrison, Assistant Coaches Mike Shruba and Jeff Teach, Team Mgr – Delores Nelson.
Registration Chairman: No report. Vicki, Ali, Jean and Phil will work June 28, 2003 registration. Karen will get labels to Vicki once 1st date passed to get mailing out to past players to register on July 12 or July 14, 15 and 16.
REGISTRATION DATES:
June 28, 2003 at McDonalds 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
July 12, 2003 at McDonalds
July 14, 15 and 16 at Summer Camp on fields

Concession Chairman: Karla’s Cafe. The profit from concessions may not have been as great this year due to bad weather and the field layout in three locations. We are looking into better facilities and location for next year.
Publicity Chairman: Phil for John. Advertisements will run in Daily Reporter and the New Pal Press for tryout dates, registration dates and summer camp. Need to run article about advantages of ProExcel camp! Cell phone number is 910-6317 with outgoing message only for parents to call for field conditions. This phone number will be available for Fall also and is posted on our Web site. Web site is updated regularly with registration forms, newsletters, flyers and minutes. Jerry got our large signs up by McDonalds on US 52 and on US 40 and 600W to list dates for travel tryouts, registration and camp. Need to use Elementary Newsletters to get timely information to families. Perhaps a separate sheet to send home with children will help also, depending on the amount of information to be conveyed at one time.
Awards/Pictures Chairman: Picture Day for Fall will be 9/13/03 with Sports Section.

Meeting adjourned by President Phil Melangton.

Next meeting TBA via e-mail and posted on Web site when that information is available.
