NPUnited Soccer
Board Meeting
November 16,
2004 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by President, Phil Melangton.
Present were: Jean Aikman, Doug Harvey, Jerry McClatchey, MK Balish, Ryan Jennings, Joe Fistrovich, Joe Baker, Karen Teach, Tom Hilton and Jody Kramer.
President: Phil.
Major issue is transition of board member positions. Reported with each position.
Vice President. No report.
Treasurer: Joe. Current balance – checking $300.00; savings
$XXXXX. This includes the snack pack profit of approximately $1,500. Joe distributed Board member discount cash
at meeting.
Secretary: Jean.
Minutes approved from September meeting with no changes. By-laws will need updated with new
positions/responsibilities as the Board changes and grows.
Team Rep. Coordinator. Angie will remain Team Rep Coordinator and be ready
to go when time comes.
Coaching Director:
Jerry. Ryan ready to take over position with Jerry helping in transition. Jerry will also be a park liaison for
NPUnited and assist with travel.
1. NPUnited
needs presence at the Parks Board Meeting November 30, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at new
fire station on Mt. Comfort Road. We
need to encourage acquisition of land for park and possible soccer fields.
2.
Discussion of lengthening U8 girls’ fields but decided that coaches need
instruction for small-sided play. If
play is conducted in small-sided manner, the children will learn passing and
ball control. No “cherry picking” at
goal and no goals from throw-in.
3. Coaches also
need reminded that A and B sides are separated by skill level. Until parents
and coaches understand and follow small-sided rules, there will be issues that
need dealt with. Hopefully, at end of
spring season, more will see the value and appreciate the significance of small-sided. Recreation soccer is not meant to be
extremely competitive but a fun, skill learning environment with some
competition.

Safety issues – Need to post rules in
concession on storm safety on fields – Field Marshall will call games in case
of lightning and a 1st aid kit is on premises at concession. Discussion about padding goals. Cost is extreme. Tabled discussion.
6.
Dana
won free certification for D coaching licenses – this will save the league some
money.
Referee Assignor: Dana. Board believes that Dana needs to get
an assistant that can be present on the fields on Saturday mornings to assist
referees and make sure all show up. Determination not made as to whether this
will result in less money for Dana, ie split his payment with assistant.

agreed to be fund raiser chairperson.

mailed to parents. Amy would like to
have a meeting in January to plan Spring, 2005 and try-outs in June. Requested participants are: Karen Teach, Jerry McClatchey, Andy Harrison
and Amy Fistrovich. This would allow
some input and assistance in matters such as if people were paid or not, roster
changes and organizing try-outs.
Congratulations
to the U-13 boys for taking 1st place in their division!!!
Concession
Chairman: Position never filled. Soccer boosters may not wish to come back in
the Spring due to lack of profitability for them. We may just have snack packs in tent/trailer where newsletters,
trophies, pictures, etc are distributed.
Need to decide at next meeting.
There
was a break-in at the concession trailer.
Sally came to restock and they
ran away. NP Police caught the 4 NPHS
students who cut the chains/locks. No
cash in trailer so nothing taken.
Disciplinary action taken at school.
NPUnited will be reimbursed for locks/keys.
Publicity Chairman: Great
newsletters Brian. Web site is being
updated regularly – thank you Jerry/Andy.
